Soulier is the brainchild of electronic musician and composer, Ryan Hall.
In June 2014, Soulier is going to take the electronic stage at the popular china-wide Strawberry Music Festival!
A product of the Canadian Prairies, Ryan grew up surrounded by music – having many mentors and inspirational people who shared his passion. “Music is an obsession for me. It’s a medium with limitless potential. I want to create something memorable that will inspire people, and I hope that Soulier can be just that.”
As a former student of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Ryan became a skilled musician and composer, working with some of the greatest musical minds around. “Berklee helped me not only with my songwriting, but with the art of translating experiences into sound. Emotions can be painted through sound, so my music tends to be based on how I feel at the time when I write it, so I take the audience through a variety of emotional states – sad, tense, lustful, overjoyed, peaceful.”
His live shows are memorable. Soulier blends new and retro sounds, melodic vocals, and glitch deep beats. Inspired by the likes of BT, Solar Fields, and many local Calgary-based artists in the underground music scene.
His compositions have been used not only on the dance floor, but also on soundtracks and other commercial initiatives. “I hope to do more work on film and television. Emotion can be told through music, but with film and television there is a more direct impact. Creating a theme for a warm embrace, a suspenseful percussive overture, or a timeless mournful soundscape after a tragic loss – these are the experiences that make us human – and they are the experiences best told through music.”
Ryan plays bass, guitar, and keyboards, as well as using digital mediums to create new sounds and beats. As a bass player, Ryan’s influences are diverse ranging from jazz, to fusion, to trance and ambient electronic music. “I love to create different moods and colours in my music and blend them with some of the best singers around. I want to bring something new to my audiences.”, says Ryan.
Ryan has performed in many cities across Canada, and will be at the massive Strawberry Music Festival in June of 2014.. He has lived in Brisbane and Halifax, and now calls Calgary, Alberta his home.
His music can be purchased online on several stores including iTunes, Traxource, and Beatport. He can be contacted at email@example.com
