Trigram

As signified by the trigram of fire on the cover of the EP, Trigram is letting loose their pent-up energy and passion into a set of brooding, hard rock songs.  Influenced by 90’s hard rock such as NIN, Tool and others, the band unleashes an assault on the ears that addresses topics ranging from conformity to drug addiction to relationship violence.  This is guitar-driven rock of the highest caliber that remains relatable and listenable.  And despite all the aggression!  Or maybe because of it.  The lead track “Assimilate” leads us into a controlled society where assimilation is a must.  Punctuated by the urgent vocals mixed with a driving guitar line, “Assimilate” properly introduces the EP.  Accompanied by a terrifying video directed by Alex Frey, you may find it difficult to shake off the uneasy feelings resulting from this track.

“Entropy” highlights their ability to build layers of sound within the melodic structure as the bassline echoes the decay indicated by the lyrics.  The melancholy of “Tick Down” is apparent through the mournful choruses while the guitar rages on in despair.  All in all, if you’re a fan of Rage Against The Machine or the Deftones, you’re going to like the anger and concern expressed here. As a result of a nightmare Rodney had in mid-2016, this music is a brilliant catharsis.
